Hollen Family Farm, LLC consists of 190 acres in Union County, Indiana. The farm currently includes 150 acres of grazing pasture and 30 acres of managed woodland.
When we purchased the farm in 2003, the primary purpose was row crops. We have gradually converted all 150 acres from row crops to grazing pasture.
Other eco-friendly improvements on the farm include: Timberstand Improvement, grass waterway reconstruction, high tensile fence installation, water line installation, and restoration of three ponds for erosion control.
We practice high density grazing with our cattle. The cattle are moved daily to fresh pasture. We stockpile forage for fall grazing. Hay is supplemented in the winter time.
No herbicides, pesticides or chemical fertilizers are used on our pastures - only composted manure and foliar applications of sea mineral supplements.
